Ayres Natural Bridge in Wyoming. It's a county park about 14 miles west of Douglas, Wyoming. It's about 5 miles south at exit 151 on I-25.
We had never heard of it, but were traveling through Wyoming during the summer of 2011 and saw a sign for Ayres Natural Bridge and decided to stop.
We drove through green pastures and saw herds of buffalo.
Suddenly it was as if we'd driven into another world. We were in a little valley carved out of rock. The pastures and buffalo were gone.
{Of course the kids spotted a playground first thing! The little tractor and the 4 wheeler (and another little tractor) were part of the playground!}
{Here's Haley standing at the base of the beautiful red rock}
{LaPrele Creek runs under the arch.}
{The kids hiked to the top of the arch - and scared their mother!}
{Then Mike and I hiked to the top. I don't know what was scarier. Watching the kids hike up, or doing it myself - then looking down!}
We were all so glad we stopped to check out Ayres Natural Bridge!

It looks like a beautiful place! I know exactly what you mean about watching your kids in high, scary places.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Wyoming but this area looks a lot like Arizona. I wonder if the buffalo were on a farm or maybe government land; that picture was interesting too.
ReplyDeleteWow! This is great post. The place looks so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh.
ReplyDeleteWow!
What a nifty place!
There's a natural bridge about 90 minutes from our house here in Arizona! Love the buffalo. Gulped at the edge of the hill.
Yikes!
Thanks for a neat link for the letter "N".
