M is for Minerva McGonagall

We've been playing catch up on all the Harry Potter movies over the last week.  Tonight we'll finish Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.  I haven't read the books and I think until now I'd only seen one of the movies all the way through (and in the theater).  It's been fun watching them all and I'm looking forward to seeing the last one in the theater.

  1. When I saw the title of your post, I had to click on your link first! I can't wait to see that last movie. I've followed them with all of my kids and I've read all the books at least twice. Sad to see the whole thing end, but I can't wait to see that final battle.

  4. I am way behind on them. I haven't read the books either, and I think I've only seen about the first three or four of the movies. I'll have to plan a marathon and see if I can see the last one in theater.

  6. I really need to read Harry Potter. It's on my very long reading list and probably needs to be jumped up to the head of the list..

  8. We started reading the books to our youngest when they first came out. It was hard to stop after just one chapter each night. I think that is why Princess started reading so early. She could then read the books without waiting until bed time and didn't have to stop after one chapter.

Tonight, she is off to the midnight showing of the last movie. If I was much, much younger, I'd be joining her. Ahhh, youth!

  9. I agree with Lisa - reading to kids really seems to help them get a head start in reading. Hope you enjoy the movie...

  10. I feel like I'm the only person not caught up in the Harry Potter craziness! The movies are good, but I just never loved them much. I'll probably wait to rent the last one!

  11. be glad you had that marathon. i just got back from watching the second seven, and i struggled in parts remembering what had happened before.

but you should READ THE BOOKS!!! they are SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!

(and if you don't have time to do this, listen to them on audio. the man who reads them is FANTASTIC! ... it was actually listening to order of the phoenix while my mother and i drove to see finding nemo that inspired me to read them. i'd been working at a bookstore at the time, and i was adamantly opposed to reading the bandwagon's choice, but i can tell you, i should've hopped on much sooner. they are beautiful stories. amazingly easy to read and so engaging. you will LOVE them. a thousand times more than the movies. i swear.
