The birds stole all but one cucumber, so I planted more. They should start climbing up this little fence soon. See the green behind the fence? We're trying corn for the first time this year! Back there in the two pots by the shed are raspberries, with strawberries in the pots to the right and lettuce in a couple other containers.
We've got potatoes in the ground...
...and potatoes in a couple barrels.
There is this poor lonely yellow squash. We're hoping for at least one more to sprout along with three zucchini plants.
We didn't have much luck growing the tomatoes from seed this year, so we bought some plants. We already lost one. It looked like it got stepped on. Maybe the dog??
We've also planted basil, cilantro, bush beans, carrots, peppers and eggplant. We can't wait for things to really start growing!

Busy wih loads of farming at hand
ReplyDeleteYou have a great variety in your garden! One year I grew yellow squash and it was hard and tasteless. I think the soil was too dry and filled with clay and perhaps the plants did not root as well, I sure love that squash. Lovely photos. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHurrah for vegetable gardens! I've been wondering how big of a pot I would need to plant potatoes. The Mama pulled out the potatoes last week to plant something else. And, I feel like trying my hand at container gardening.

Oh I'm jealous. I love your garden. Sorry about the cucumbers. My son can't grow a green bean because of the rabbits! Thanks for coming by and seeing my Butterfly Bush. I enjoyed visiting you I am following now!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.

I love your yard with the picket fence, shed, and garden. The perfect spot. Sure hope you have some gardening success. I'm wondering what state you live in. I could see a little bit of the house next door and it reminded me of growing up in NJ. Post more pictures when your garden grows a little.
ReplyDeleteOh, dear, I hope you get some veggies from your garden this year. Hubby did well with zucchinis last year and we have some winter broccoli so far...some of the crops have fed critters quite well!
ReplyDeleteEven if the birds are helping themselves, your garden is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love your little potting shed!
They told us to try using bridal tulle to protect our garden from bugs and birds. Don't know if that might work for you. Walmart has it for 97 cents a yard!
Thanks for sharing your lovely space with us for Alphabe-Thursday's Letter B.
