CRUSTY SPAMBAKE - a recipe from grandma's collection
First of all. I LOVE that grandma refers to the SPAM as "meat"!
In NO way does SPAM look like meat. I tried to hurry to get it out of the can before the kids came in and saw it!
I hurried with the whole recipe because I thought it would send the kids right out the door if they saw what I was doing.
We cooked a couple little steaks a long with this in case it was absolutely horrible. The kids thought it was horrible from the moment I said, "SPAM", so they had steak.
I must say, it actually wasn't THAT bad! It was fun to experiment with another of grandma's recipes. In case anyone out there is

Oh my gosh! I grew up on spam since it was a cheap meal for a family of 7. Totally refuse to eat it now and haven't had any in over 40 years! What really caught my eye about your post though was the recipe card. I have the same ones! Thanks for sharing your recipe but I'm not going to try it! Haha!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I ever had Spam in my youth -- probably because of my smart Mama!! However, I have had a most delicious breakfast using Treet, cornbread and syrup!
ReplyDeleteI remember my Dad doing a spam and pineapple thing many years ago!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of spam and pineapple together! Wow! {:-D
ReplyDeleteNoooooooo! Not SPAM!! This does not bear happy memories for me. I hated Spam nights...and salmon patty nights. Stephen LOVES Spam though. My older sister introduced him to it. You crack me up girl...you are right...totally NOT meat IMO!
ReplyDeleteI ate a lot of spam in my day! Next time, don't tell them what it is until AFTER they tried it!
ReplyDeleteThis is so funny! SPAM was always a gag gift for us. I love that you have a recipe using it from your grandma!
ReplyDeleteI'm cracking up here!
ReplyDeleteMy Mom made this recipe...often!
This brought back a lot of memories.
Possibly not so great!
But still.
