JAWS Birthday Party

Last month we celebrated our middle girl's 16th birthday party.  She did NOT want a "Sweet 16" party.  I joked (sort of) and said she should have a JAWS themed party since June was the 40th anniversary of the movie, JAWS.  She loved the idea, so we went with it.  It was so fun putting it together.

I showed you the invitations already, but in case you missed them, here they are again.

We had fun working on this sign from the movie.  We just used a drop cloth and paint we already had.

She invited 20 some kids and our house is way too small for that many teenagers, so this party HAD to be outside.  Thank goodness for GREAT weather.  It was cloudy and even a little cool at times, but the rain/sprinkles held out until the very end.

The first decoration we bought was this inflatable shark.  We weren't even sure what we were going to do with it, but we had to buy it!

The birthday girl wanted a photo booth, so we went with a "changing tent".  Another drop cloth.  I think I'm going to paint something else on this (maybe flowers?) and make a table cloth for the patio table and some pillow covers for a couple outdoor chairs.

Not knowing what the kids would do for hours, we decided to make Cornhole boards.  We were originally going to paint something a little more creative, but then decided to go simple.  We'll probably paint over them.  (Maybe go with a Dr. Pepper/Mt. Dew theme)

You can't see it well, but I painted an old cabinet door with chalkboard paint to use as a score board.  It's hanging up on the shed door.  Now I can use the chalkboard on the front porch.

We made this shark cutout for the candy/present table.

The birthday girl made her own cake and it turned out awesome!

The cake was chocolate and she wanted to have vanilla as well, so made these cupcakes.

I was surprised to hear that only ONE of the kids had ever even seen JAWS!  I love how the party turned out though and I think all the kids had a great time!  Now we need to start thinking about what to do next year when our youngest daughter turns 16!!

  4. This is the coolest party!

That striped cloth would be neat with flowers on it!

I just love how creative you are! I keep hoping it'll inspire me. but... sadly...no!
