Apple Dessert

Today starts a new round of Jenny Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday.  For this round, I'm going to try a new recipe each week.

This one comes from a collection of recipes I have from my grandmother on my dad's side.  This is from one of her relatives.  Her aunt? sister? cousin?  I'm not sure.

NORWEGIAN PIE  I know.  We're on the letter "A", but I've been wanting to try this recipe and there are Apples in it!

I had to run to the store for baking powder and apples.

I had a helper join me for part of the pie making.

The dough was thick and I actually ended up using my hands!

Also had to run to the store for ice cream!

First recipe = success!  I don't know why it's called "pie".  It was more like a giant cookie, but it was excellent!  I might be the only one that thinks so.  The kids didn't try it and Mike wasn't so sure about it.  I think he was expecting ACTUAL pie!  More for me!  :D

  1. Hi Monica, it sure looks good to me!! Perhaps "Actual Pie" has a bottom crust so this might be a "cobbler" to him. The Germans and the Swedes also have recipes for apple pie with no bottom crust.
I like both so great!! (If I had my druthers though I wouldn't put in the pecans as my doctor says "no, no."

  5. You won me over - it's probably healthier without the pie crust! And it would be easier for hubby to ea since he's in the process of getting denturest:)

  7. Hi! So nice to see you linked here. I'm trying to get back into a more social world and it's wonderful to see you!

I like this idea and I'm really intrigued to see what amazing recipes you have to share for the whole Alphabet. Z? Hmmm...

    Thanks for linking!

  8. That looks great so I'm pinning it to make later. Now I only need 10 people to come visit us because it's probably far too many calories for us to eat it on our own. However it will probably freeze. But it would be nice to share if it tastes as good as it looks.
