In-N-Out Burger T-Shirt Quilt

A few weeks ago I saw an In-N-Out Burger T-Shirt Quilt by A Girl and a Glue Gun.  Then I remembered, "Hey, I made one of those once too!"  What a perfect subject for Alphabe-Thursday's letter "I".

{April 2012.  My last In-N-Out meal.}

We've been collecting In-N-Out Burger T-Shirts since forever.  We'd buy a new one every year.  Sometimes more than one.  We even bought them for the kids.  We wore them all. the. time.  Here are a few pictures.  We have more.  Lots more.  But, I don't want to bore you.  This post is about a quilt, not about us in t-shirts.  Though it might be fun to see pictures of us from, say, 1990.  (And I'm not just talking about funny pictures of Mike.  I'm pretty sure there's one of me in an In-N-Out t-shirt TUCKED IN to spandex shorts!  Seriously!  Too bad I can't find THAT one!)

{Joey & Zac 2002}

{August 2011.  Our last family visit to In-N-Out.}

Here is the quilt.

I made it in 2000.  Would you count those shirts?!  TWENTY ONE!  That quilt is made with 21 shirts!  I'm not even sure we'd started buying them for the kids yet.  That means those are shirts from just TWO people!

We've still got shirts to spare.  I bet I could make another quilt with what we've got left!

For more of the letter I, be sure to visit Jenny Matlock's Alphabe-Thursday.

  3. That's a really neat idea of the In-and-Out tee shirt quilt. I have not seen the tee shirts around here.

    I do have a Burger King painter's cap. I was sixteen when I got it, free from a BQ out west someplace. I remember more driving IN the OUT drive than anything else. We were on vacation, it was Dad's new Ford, he was in the car with the rest of us. Not Good.

  6. The burger does look yummy. I've never made a quilt from a t-shirt fabric. What did you use for backing? Was it difficult to work with?

  7. I love In and Out!

    Do you know their fries are the only gluten soy free ones around!

    When Jessie comes over Steve runs up to the corner and buys three boxes...two for Jessie and one for me!

    Thanks for a delicious and inventive link for the letter 'I'.

    I love your creativity.

    A+

    Blessings & Aloha!
