Revival

[ri-vahy-vuhl]

1. restoration to life, consciousness, vigor, strength, etc.

Taylor and I found this old headboard at the Goodwill the other day for $9.99.

It looked something like this when we picked it up from the store. Actually, the only thing that was the same was the part in the middle with the spindles. When we bought it, that was a broken sliding "door" and it fell off when we got it home!

Later I found this "Kids Desk" on our version of Craigslist for $10.00.  I had to make a couple repairs, but it was in pretty good shape.

We both thought these pieces were in need of a revival!

Here's Taylor's with primer...

Adding COLOR!

Her color inspiration was this IKEA pillow.  The white on the headboard is for doodles!

Finished and in her room.
I think it turned out GREAT!

I had a few different ideas for the desk.  I decided on AQUA and thought I might paint the bottom and stain the top.  Here it is after sanding...

Here's where I needed to make a repair.  I only needed to do this on one corner, but wanted them all to match, so I did all four.  Do you see that screw way back in that hole?  I did that MYSELF!!  Then added a little oak button which I had to file down to make it fit in the hole!

Remember how I said I wanted to stain the top?  Yeah, I remembered too as I was brushing primer across the top!

I thought and thought about what to do in the white space on top and decided something cirular.  This (the top) isn't quite where I'd wanted to go with it...but here it is...

I'm linking up to Serendipity Chic Design's "Meet Me On Monday Party".  Head on over to see lots more fun painted furniture!

  1. Super adorable! I hope you come here next!! again!! :) side note- WHY are the comments on all my favorite blogs asking me to make a blog just to leave a comment? I just have the google reader and it used to use that no problem but now I have to take all these extra steps... super frustrating!
