F is for Fifth grade graduation

Fifth grade graduation?  Seems kinda silly to me.  Zac had a 5th grade graduation ceremony, but Taylor and Haley didn't.  Last night was Jenny's.  I'm not saying we're not proud of our kids, but is completing the 5th grade really THAT big of an accomplishment?  I guess leaving elementary school and heading off to the big scary world of middle school is kind of a big deal!

Here she is looking all pretty - before the nasty wind got hold of her hair!
As a nominee for Student of the Year, she got a free kids' meal at Applebee's.  After graduation we went to Applebee's for her free meal only to find out they'd changed Family Night to Tuesday and kids' meals were only $.99!!  We'll save the free meal for another night.

Here's Jenny with her principal.

Here's the graduate!

  1. I remember when we had a ceremony from 9th grade to 10th because that's when we officially moved to the highschool, which was a big deal. I can understand how important such a promotion would be to a 5th grader, if she/he is going to a new school. Congrats!

  3. Congratulations to your Jenny! I taught 5th grade for 23 years and I loved that curriculum. In AZ our kids are in elementary school until 6th grade, then they go to middle school for 7 & 8 and then on to high school. Jenny will enjoy her new friends and experiences.
